"Two Worlds - One Experience": this title unites the two permanent exhibitions "Native North Americans" and "Karl May - His Life and Work". Both exhibitions are imbued with the spirit of mutual understanding between peoples and tolerance towards cultural attitudes and views of life that are different from our own, a spirit that was shared by Karl May himself.
The presentation of more than eight hundred ethnographic objects in the "Villa Bärenfett" sheds light on the cultural communities of the Native North Americans, and is considered one of the most valuable such collections in Europe.
Karl May's residence "Villa Shatterhand" - featuring the original oriental furniture, the drawing room, and the writer's personal study as well as his library - is also accessible to visitors.
